"A Place of Everyday Wonder"

I love my job! I have been teaching for 18 years. I have so much fun learning with children in kindergarten...a place of everyday wonder!

I grew up here in the Porter Township Corporation!  I began 2nd grade at Porter Lakes and continued on to Graduate at Boone Grove High School in 1990.

I graduated with a reading and kindergarten endorsement in 1995 from Purdue University.

My husband, Steve, and I have 3 children: Karly, sophmore at BGHS, Kyle, 8th grader and Konnor, 6th grader both at BGMS. Sports, family, friends and homework keep us very busy.

I enjoy growing flowers and vegetables in my garden, walking and talking with my family and friends, shopping, reading, dancing, hiking, playing games with my kids and teaching kindergarten.

Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time and wonderful experience for your child! The skills we practice daily are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life!  I will guide and encourage your child, celebrating each step of the way as he or she gains a love of learning, self-confidence, and the academic skills that form a foundation for continued success.   Education = Parents + Teacher + Child

I enjoy teaching and look forward to caring, supporting and encouraging your child daily as we embark on the wonderful adventure of learning through exploration!

Please call me at Porter Lakes 219-306-8076 or contact me by email:kim.wauro@ptsc.k12.in.us if you have any questions at any time.

Learning to Live

Loving to Learn

Growing, Knowing, Becoming!

Here are some of my strongest kindergarten beliefs:

I believe that every child is talented and capable of learning, and has unique gifts and strengths that should be celebrated!

I believe that children need encouragement, consistency, clear expectations and healthy boundaries!

I believe that providing a safe and comfortable, children will feel empowered to take the risks involved in learning new things.

I believe that my most important job as a kindergarten teacher is helping children build self-esteem, confidence, and healthy social relationships!

I believe that reading makes readers!

I believe that learning should be hands-on, interactive, imaginative, integrated and FUN!

I believe that education is a partnership between parents, children and teachers!
